The people who patronize this place are equally friendly! A lady ordering a dark beer at the counter beside me offered to let me take a sip of her just-served beer to see if I liked it! The lady on the other side could have talked our ear off and knew the brews as if she helped make them! The staff lets you sample anything and everything before you order one to make sure you like it. They did have some kind of small food truck in the parking lot though. Like it’s just a brewery… they don’t have a kitchen so pretty much you’re going there to drink and that’s about it. The building itself is nothing to look at and it’s kind of an odd set up.
There’s not much else out there and I was completely unfamiliar with the area. To be honest it’s kind of off the beaten path and I had no idea where we were even going I was so lost.

Pro Tip: if you’re the religious type, they have «Bible and Brews» on Wednesdays.After hearing about this place for quite some time, we finally decided to go see what it was all about. I’d give this brewery a solid three star rating based on the space and beer, but when you mix in my experience, I sadly have to bump them down to a two. Talk about some tension in the workplace. Besides the constant spitting, her treatment of the bartender working was really unfortunate to see. The phrase «don’t shit where you eat» kept coming to mind, and IF you do and are going to be loud and obnoxious, please don’t tell customers that you also work there.

The bartender managing the space on Monday night was friendly but unfortunately there was a very boisterous employee drinking at the bar (and dipping – see through spit bottles in full view, sitting on the bar!) who completely ruined my experience. The beer remains a solid three star for me and while the brewery is nice it’s not unique enough to merit a long drive back, it’s give off a small-town, local country feel.

Large windows give you a view of the beer making process and if you sit at the bar you’ll notice the beautiful wood-working and craftsmanship that was put into the space. The taproom is small but well lain out, with a large bar that greets you as you walk in and private tables. While I’ve never been blown away, the brewery itself gets great reviews so my expectations were high. I’ve tried Southern Pines beer a handful of times, mostly their Man of Law IPA in the cans they distribute. And that’s just what my recent stop stemmed from, stopping by on a Monday evening around 5: 30/ 6: 00pm. Located an hour outside of the Triangle, Southern Pines might not be your average Saturday day road-trip, but makes for a good stop if you’re diving back to the Triangle from South Carolina/Georgia area. The beers were good and the staff was awesome.
